NOT DOING SCIENCE FAIR for Project Mark

n      DO any projects below which total 4 (FOUR) points.

n      The teacher must approve ALL topics.

-- One project should be done before the start of exams in January. The second project (if necessary) should be done before the start of the June exam period.

-- Once exams start projects will not be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS so be on the ball please.

Project Outline (basic design for all projects):

Do 4 points in total projects from the options below.

2 Point Options:

A. In-class Demonstration (Done by yourself)

n      Conduct a demonstration of how to correctly use some piece of equipment or do some procedure related to a topic in this course.

n      An explanation of the process or underlying science occurring must be delivered and some short notes and worksheet must be prepared and delivered.

n      Look at The Naked Scientists “ Kitchen Science” for great demos.

B. Paint a Lab Coat (Done by yourself)

n      Choose a design or image related to this course and draw it and color it on a Lab Coat.

C. Neighbourhood Cleanup (Done by yourself)

n      An area must be chosen to collect garbage / litter in the area.  (2 garbage bag minimum)

n      Before pictures must be shown for approval and After pictures of you, your collected garbage / recycling must be included.

D. Organize a Neighbourhood Cleanup (Done with up to 3 other people)

n      This project involves organizing a group of people to do C. above

n      An area must be chosen and a group organized to collect garbage / litter in the area.  (2 garbage bag minimum. Per person)

n      Before pictures must be shown for approval and After pictures of you, your collected garbage / recycling must be included.

 

4 Point Options:

A. Paint a Mural (Done by yourself)

n      Similar to Paint a Ceiling Tile just larger.

B. Teach a Class (Done by yourself)

n      A lesson plan must be prepared and a 1 class (56 minute) lesson prepared and delivered. 

n      Lesson includes: Lesson Plan, Required Resources (vcr, overhead etc.), Notes, Worksheets Prepared (2 school days in advance)

n      Assignments given out in class must be graded by you.

C. Tutor another student in Biology for 8 hours (Done by yourself)

D. Teach a Lab to a class (Done by yourself)

n      A lesson plan must be prepared and a 1 class (56 minute) lesson prepared and delivered. 

n      Lesson includes: Lesson Plan, Required Resources (vcr, overhead etc.), Notes, Worksheets Prepared (2 school days in advance)

n      Lab Assignments given out in class must be graded by you.

E. In School Recycling (Done by you)

n      Tuesday afternoon 3pm to 3pm or Thursday afternoon 3pm to 4pm

n      You go room to room collecting the recycling from the blue bins in each room.

n      8 Tuesdays or 8 Thursdays is the time involved

n      This option is open to only 4 people at a time. (2 for Tuesday and 2 for Thursday)
